Freshly prepared ingredients ready to be transformed into delightful rolls.

Directions

  1. Lightly butter the bottom and sides of a 9×13 pan and set it aside.
  2. In a small pot, melt the 4 1/2 tablespoons of butter and add the 2 tablespoons of minced garlic. Cook for 1-2 minutes or until the garlic is fragrant. Remove from heat and allow to cool while you measure the other ingredients.
  3. In a stand mixing bowl, combine the 3 1/2 cups of flour, 3 tablespoons of parsley, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 2 1/4 teaspoons of yeast, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Then add the warmed milk, room temperature egg, and the cooled garlic butter mixture. Knead on low speed with the dough hook until the dough is smooth and feels soft and tacky, about 10-12 minutes. If the dough is too sticky, add one tablespoon of flour at a time until you achieve a workable dough.
  4. Cut the kneaded dough into 12 equal portions (using a scale for accuracy—67 grams each). Shape each piece into a smooth ball by pinching the bottom of the roll where the seam comes together to keep it tight. Place the shaped dough balls into the prepared baking pan. Cover with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel and set in a warm place to rise until doubled in size, about 1-2 hours. Watch the video below for visual aid!
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
  6. Brush the tops of the rolls with the beaten egg wash. Bake the dinner rolls for 20-30 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
  7. While the rolls are baking, prepare the garlic butter by melting the 2 tablespoons of butter in a pot and adding the 1 tablespoon of minced garlic. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, then remove from heat and stir in the 1 tablespoon of parsley.
  8. When the rolls come out of the oven, immediately brush them with the garlic butter. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt if desired, and serve warm!

Tips & Variations

  • Ingredient Substitutions: You can use olive oil instead of butter for a dairy-free option; try adding different herbs like oregano or thyme for variations in flavor.
  • Optional Variations: Incorporate cheese into the dough or sprinkle shredded cheese on top before baking for a cheesy twist.
  • Storage or Reheating Tips: Store any leftover rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days, or freeze for up to a month. Reheat in the oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes until warmed through.
